4. Analyze the actions of the team. It doesn’t take a leader to stop something that’s not working but it takes real leadership to stop something that’s just good and turn it into actions that are exceptional. On functional teams right action must be intentional. A true team player understands their role and does right things right always growing and reaching for their next level.
When a team member stops developing and enlarging their abilities the team is in trouble. It’s up to each team member to possess knowledge of the game. 2 Timothy 2:15 says “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” A functioning team knows and follows the game plan. They know their role on the team and they do it. It’s the responsibility of each team member to review and evaluate their actions constantly. Studying to show yourself approved. Functional teams and coaches take blame but never assign any. They never talk bad about their teammates, coaches or the front office ever! They are quick to share any victories together as well as quick to say thanks no matter what. Eliminating wrong actions will turn your team’s performance from dysfunction back to function.
