4. Model applying yourself.... Do your best! This is something your children need to see as well as hear from you!
• Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might another key scripture is 2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
I love how the word used for study in the KJV is translated "do your best" in the NIV. You children need to see this in your life
Why not...
study being a better parent. Read books, enroll in Growing Kids God's Way or another parenting class that shows them you take being a better parent seriously.

Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
This is something that needs to be caught and not just taught to your kids.

Re: 8 ways to empower your child to have the best school year ever! -part 4

Jim,

I think this is a great point that many parents overlook - not only in being a better parent, but in all things. So many parent encourage there kids to give their best at school in one breathe and then turn around in the next breath and talk about how they slacked off at work, cheated the system and didn't give their best to their employer. Kids learn what they see lived out in front of them. Thanks for this great series.
