There are things I've learned I want to spend the rest of my life passing on to the next generation!

Mr. Webster defines stress as “the physical, mental, or emotional pressure, pull or force exerted on one thing by another; strain; tension” Pressure is normal and can be helpful at times but not knowing how to handle it causes us problems. Trying to handle it by ourselves is not God’s plan for us that is why he has sent us the Holy Spirit.

The ministry can be a very stressful occupation! As rewarding as ministry can be it also reminds me of a whole bunch of work! As I have studied Children’s Ministers over the past thirty plus years two things that are apparent are: we have a tendency to want to do things all by ourselves and at times (More times than most) in our own strength. This is not good. I should have listened to “Three Dog Night” years ago they told me “One is the loneliest number that you’ll ever do!” or maybe the “Beatles” they not only sang about needing “help” but also “help from our friends.” Better yet I should have listened to Jesus.

I love being near family again! For half of my ministry I was 12 hours away from my family. To just be 3 hours away I feel extreemly blessed! We started in ministry near Julie's family then moved near my family. When we moved on the other side of the Mississippi River it was neat how the Lord sent people into our lives who became like family. When we moved back South I wasn't sure that my kids would move too. They did, I'm so blessed! Now for all of us to be so close to our extended family it's a blessing I didn't see coming, but that's the kind of God we serve... "One who blesses us more than we could ever ask or think!"

It's here our third tender Tennessee Christmas. I thought it would never get here then...24 days of gift wraping, 1 children's musical, 2 nights of our Christmas Musical, Miss Patty Cake Christmas for preschoolers, A Fancy Yancy Christmas Family Concert, 2 weekends of food drive, two weekends of Toys for Tots, an occupancy permit from the city, and 3 Christmas Eve services in our new building later and it's here.

Number nine teach and make corrections to your team. Teaching brings definition. Teach on what you have learned through evaluation. When you correct, correct in love!

Ten, set the pace and be the leader. It’s simple leaders must lead. If you call yourself a leader and no one is following behind you you’re only taking a walk.

Number five get God’s plan for your ministry. Here’s what I know God’s plan always works. There is a difference between thus sayeth the seminar speaker and thus sayeth the Lord!

Number six develop the plan. God doesn’t lead us in leaps and jumps he leads in steps.

One of the most intriguing professions in the world to me is forecasting the weather. Sometimes they miss it but most of the time they get it right.
Mr. Webster defines forecasting as “to predict a future condition or occurrence; to calculate in advance by forethought and foresight in planning. These are not just descriptions and duties of a meteorologist. It’s also the responsibility of a leader of volunteers. Are you accurately predicting future conditions and occurrences by advance planning and careful calculations?

For years I've been telling Yancy, you should make a Christmas CD, this year she did. Have A Fancy Yancy Christmas has not only become my favorite Christmas CD so far it's been the only one I have listened to. The songs are a mixture of traditional Christmas carols and contemporary favorites, but all performed in a very fun and "Yancy" way. If you like upbeat Christmas Music you'll love HAFYC. Yancy penned two songs: “Merry Christmas, Happy Christmas” and “Christmastime”. Both are sure to become staples for many Christmas’s to come. The song "The Greatest Gift" is being played at radio across the U.S.

I got a sweet email tonight...

"We recently hosted Yancy here for a concert. She was great! The kids loved her. Even though the attendance was not what I had hoped for, her performance was professional, enthusiastic, scriptural and fun. Most of all, I appreciate her passion for ministering to children. She has a new group of fans!
