2. The next key to growth is making room for it. In the second chapter of the book of John we see a good example of this If we do what we can do God will do what He can do. Jesus told them to go and fill six large water pots with water. They did what he said and the miracle took placed. I believe that if they had not obeyed the Lord the miracle of turning water into wine would not have happen. Jesus could have turned air into wine just as easily as water but He wanted to show us the importance of making room for God to move within everything we do.
Throughout the scriptures we see people having to do their part and then God did his part. We must make room for growth. I believe the reason some churches are experiencing explosive growth and others are not is because they have made room for growth to happen. How do you make room for growth? First of all you must plan for it. "If you aim at nothing you'll hit it every time!" All of our planing starts with a vision. Remember what Proverbs 29:18 says,"Where there is no vision the people perish." The simplest definition for a vision that i know is just seeing something the way God sees it. When I first realized God had given me a vision to reach children I noticed that the Lord had replaced my point of view on ministering to boys and girls with his viewpoint. Your vision is the place you want to end up. But when you are going on a trip where you are going to end up isn't all that you need to know, you also need to know where you are starting from. It's the same in planing and preparing for growth you must determine not only where you are going but also where you're starting from. You'll never grow from where you are presently till you set up administratively to become what your goal is. If your goal is to run 100 kids in your children's church then structure your class now to effectively reach 100 kids. How can you run what you have not made room to catch? Then when your 35 becomes 75-80 your growth structure will now be a maintenance structure. If you're going to continue to grow you are going to have to enlarge your structure to be able to effectively reach more. In the last 17 years I've changed my organizational structure over a dozen times. After you plan you must commit yourself to seeing it become reality by committing yourself a fresh and a new to your Pastor, the Corporate, departmental and individual visions of your church, and to those whom you minister to.
