It's almost here the week I've been looking forward to since last Orange. Why do you like Orange so much Jim? I'm glad you asked that. I like Orange because of two main reasons. First every year Reggie and company have dared to challenge the same old conference thinking and have dished up something fresh yet staying forcused on the main thing "the Orange way of life!" I just can't see what the minds of Orange have dished up for us this year. The second thing I love about Orange is the group of thinkers and leaders it assembles. Some of children's and youth ministries brightest and best all show up in one location. For the last several years my heart has been turned toward the next generation of children's ministry leaders, I've found some sharp ones at each of the Orange Conferences I've been a part of. Every year I have made my list of young guns I want to meet and connect with. To me networking and connecting is why I go to conferences. I try to create my own conference within a conference to learn what I came to learn.

I've had several people contact me about connecting during Orange. I've been a little hard to pin down on purpose to see who really wants to connect. The ball is in their court. I'll be getting in Tuesday afternoon and will be available to hang that night. I'm also free for breakfast Wednesday and Thursday mornings. My lunches look like they will have to be on site.

This year I am teaching three preconference workshops, two breakouts on Thursday and then taping two sessions for the live streaming. Here's my workshops and times.

Preconference Workshop 1

Organization for Those Who Weren’t Born That Way

April 28, 2010

9:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Preconference Workshop 2

Delegation is Good, Duplication is Better

April 28, 2010

1:00 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.

Preconference Workshop 3

Looking Ahead and Pointing the Way

April 28, 2010

2:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Breakout A

Leading in Seasons of Change

April 29, 2010

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Breakout B

First Things First

April 29, 2010

2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Wednesday night at 5:00pm I'm joining Kenny Conley for the #kidmin BBQ tweetup at Dreamland. I'm planning on being at the official Orange Tweetup Wednesday evening. Thursday night I have no plans as of now but Friday morning I'll be at the ACMA breakfast at 7:30AM meet at Chick-Fil-A across from Gwinnett Center at 2020 Satellite Blvd. After the breakfast I'm heading back to Tennessee. If you want to connect at a time other than what's listed I'll be in the Orange Leader's Lounge hanging with my blogger peeps.

You are the only one who can make sure you connect with leaders and learn what you need to learn. If you want to connect with me I promice to be available. I'm looking forward who will take advantage of the opportunities to learn, it will be fun to see who pursues me.  Don't let this year's Orange just be another conference. Come with questions, press in to those you want to learn from during, before and after the workshops. It's up to you to make Orange your Orange. It will be fun to learn together! Hope to see you at Orange 10.

Re: Orange Is Almost Here

OK Jim, I want to meet up with you. It will probably need to be at the blogger lounge or may be lunch on site. I have a team coming with me - a kidmin vol, a potential staff member, a new staff member not connected to kidmin but needs to understand better what we are doing, and my wife - just for company. We will have one vehicle so that creates unique opportunities. Just tell me what works best for you and I will try to make it work. Really looking forward to the 2 one day trips and Infuse starting in September!!!
