This week on July 15th and 16th a Children's Ministry historical event will be taking place, the 1st ever Children's Ministry Expo (also known as CMX) will take place in Lexington, KY. I'm planning on attending and will have a booth along with my daughter Yancy and my son-in-law Cory. I'm excited about seeing hundreds of vendors all in one place offering huge summer discounts. So in honor of this event I thought I would blog about my top 10 reasons why I'm excited about CMX...
1. I'm looking forward to being a part of a different approach to a Kidmin training event.
2. I'm excited about meeting some Kidmin folks from online live in person.
3. I'm looking forward to hanging with Roger Fields and family.
4. It's all in one room!
5. I'm excited about offering free coaching and help to anyone who wants to hang out in my booth. (Come join me on my sofa!)
6. I'm bringing my cute wife with me.
7. Friday is Yancy's 30th Birthday so I get to be with her!
8. They have Graeter's ice cream (Thursday night we are throwing Yancy a party at one, stop by the booth for info if you want to attend.)
9. I going to sell all my resources for only 2 prices. Every items will be either $15 or $5 so you can take a copy to everyone on your team!
10. I believe Jesus is going to show up and bless a lot of kidmin folks and I'm honored to be a part of this.
Still got questions? Here are some answers to your questions about CMX.
Why should I spend $25 to shop?
Whoa! $25 to shop? I wouldn’t do that either. You can shop online for free but you won’t EXPERIENCE the products and ministries Live like you will at the CM Expo. Read on. There is so much more to do than shop.
Should I go to the CM Expo instead of a conference?
You could, but the CM Expo is not a conference. The Expo is an event with live shows, outrageous “Hubs” and so much more. See “Scoops” (2 questions below) and “Sit-Ins” (3 questions below).
I have been to every CM conference in America. What do you have that I haven’t seen already?
Exhibitors are coming out of the woodwork for this event. The CM Expo is affordable for every kind of resource vendor imaginable. We have been blown away by how many vendors are participating whom we had never heard of.
What is a Scoop?
a 20-minute mini-workshop around the exhibits where you can hear about products from the exhibitors in a group setting. All of the info, none of the pressure. If the product isn’t what you are looking for, slip away and join another Scoop. There are several going on all the time in the same place, both days.
What is a Sit-In?
Sit-Ins are 40-minute talk sessions with kidmin experts on topics that are important to you. Again, it all happens in one giant room so you can join anytime and you’ll never get lost looking for a room.
Can I see everything in one day?
If you move fast, you could see all of the exhibitors in one day, but there are different events going on each day. When you first arrive you will get a complete schedule of everything happening.
Are exhibitors offering discounts on products?
You betcha! You will likely make your $25 investment back with your first purchase.
I am flying in and may not rent a car. Are there food options nearby?
there are excellent restaurants in and around the Lexington Center; food will also be available in the exhibit hall and a Lexington Concierge will be available to help you find places to order food delivered if necessary.
Can I buy a ticket at the door?
Yes you can and it's the same price just $25!
Hope to see you there. I'm told all the cool kids will be there!
