This week I will be driving to Birmingham from Nashville. Because of my schedule I use to fly most all the time but after doing the math, needing to return calls and wanting to enjoy the scenery I found driving to be fun and a better use of my time. Everytime I make the drive I get to go down memory lane a little.
Growing up I spent a lot of time visiting Athens, Alabama. This was my stepfather's hometown. There was not much to do, or places to eat or hangout when I was young. Now when I stop at the Athens/Huntsville exit it blows me away. There is every fast food place you can think of and there's even a Starbucks. It makes me think how things change every twenty-five to thirty years but then I realized this is not always true in church. I started thinking about how much more I would have enjoyed hanging out at Starbucks as a teen rather than the Truck Stop. I want to be a part of helping the church make changes that are better for it's next generations. Change doesn't happen without someone willing to be a change agent and help facilitate change. I want to be that kind of person, how about you?
